I actually wasn't walking about straight/bi allies at all with my piece, but I see what you're saying. Broadly complaining about men is as bad as broadly complaining about women. "Men are X" - as if all men are the same - is as obnoxious as "Women are Y." Safest to say, and assume, the men and women being discussed are a certain type of man or woman adhering to antiquated and unfair norms.
