I can’t even imagine. I know someone might say “it’s just a name,” but it’s clearly so much more. And 50! How did you find out?

I admit I never thought about the naming too deeply, before. I figured, “Right, new family, new last name.” The REMOVAL didn’t occur to me, though. And the fact that new names would be placed on a birth certificate - names of people who had nothing to do with the birth in any direction - didn’t discomfort me the way it does now because I just never thought about it. But now, it’s like, “duh.” I cannot imagine putting my name down as the person who gave birth to a child I didn’t give birth to. It’s so strange.
