I needed to read this. I'm guilty of having shamed people (privately) for being afraid. For example, on my town social media page, you can predict that within 5 minutes of a low-flying plane buzzing overhead that someone will post a question about the plane ("why is it flying so low??" "what was that!??"). We have a National Guard post nearby with many flying machines, so it can seem silly to me that airplanes scare people. But that it's silly to me doesn't mean it's silly to them, and I don't know what their experience has been that's made them afraid of low-flying planes.
So, consider me properly lectured and educated.
