I think there's a tendency to assign (undeserved) automatic empathy on the part of gay men when it comes to women and women's experiences. I was watching an award show some years ago, and the man interviewing a female celebrity was gay. This gave him, as he saw it, permission to touch the celebrity woman's breast. (Like, "Hey, I don't want to have sex with you, so it's perfectly fine for me to touch your fun bags - they're still toys, are they not?") There are also plenty of gay men who determine the value (or lack thereof) of women based on how the women look or dress or, in some cases, how tragic they are. Gay or not, they're still men. Men who have suffered their unique indignities and judgments and oppressions, yes, but different from women.
