I'm sorry your mom is being stubborn about it. I think you're right, though, that some people simply will not see it as a choice to be made; instead, they see it as inevitable. Fortunately, you know it isn't! She had her opportunity to live her life the way she saw fit, and you have yours. With luck, she'll see where you're coming from, someday, or at the very least accept it.
