One of the things we've discussed a few times on the podcast Childfree Girls (three women, three different races, three different countries, ages 39-47) is the odd notion of regretting not doing something you never wanted to do in the first place. It makes no logical sense, and that people ask whether we (people without children by choice) will regret not having children, someday, speaks to the power of the depth of the socialization we receive that having children is the only way to feel complete. (Ask 100 parents if having kids made them feel complete, if they have no further goals, no feelings of emptiness or lack of fulfillment. I'll wait.)
